Frequency Response & SPL Explained

Frequency response and sound pressure level describe important aspects of speaker performance, but both depend on defined test setups.

What to review

Understand frequency range, measurement distance, input level, mounting baffle, acoustic chamber, smoothing, distortion and reference conditions.

Good engineering practice

A driver measured in free air can behave differently inside a compact finished enclosure. Compare curves only when their test conditions are consistent.

What to include in a technical request

Send the intended application, relevant technical drawings, device envelope, electrical driver or amplifier configuration, environmental requirements, annual quantity estimate and the time frame for prototype evaluation. Include any standards applicable to the finished equipment so the engineering scope can be agreed.

Need an application-specific answer?

CX Acoustics can review your requirements and recommend the next evaluation steps. Technical documents are provided only when the corresponding references and revisions have been validated.
