Acoustic Component Selection Guide acoustic components

Component selection begins with an accurate understanding of the target application and the final mechanical and electrical environment.

What to review

Review envelope dimensions and mounting method; required audio program or tone; nominal impedance; rated power; target sound pressure; supply and amplifier; sensitivity and bandwidth; environmental profile; prototype schedule.

Good engineering practice

Compare candidate components on harmonized measurement conditions. Test assemblies in the actual enclosure before approving a final reference.

What to include in a technical request

Send the intended application, relevant technical drawings, device envelope, electrical driver or amplifier configuration, environmental requirements, annual quantity estimate and the time frame for prototype evaluation. Include any standards applicable to the finished equipment so the engineering scope can be agreed.
